Rev. Alicia Velez Stewart, M.Div.

Rev. Alicia Velez Stewart is has been serving Bridgewater United Methodist Church since 2018. In July of 2020, Pastor Alicia began the work of welcoming a second church appointment in addition to BUMC. She is very excited for the new partnership between BUMC and East Bridgewater United Methodist Church in East Bridgewater, MA.

Pastor Alicia grew up in Lakeville, MA, where her family still resides. Also from the area is her husband, Bryan, who is originally from Whitman. They both enjoy exploring outdoors and traveling. Pastor Alicia is a kayaker and the Velez Stewart family loves camping, bike riding, and caring for the small zoo they have at home (Emmie the Church Pug, Frank the giant cat, Brogan the turtle, and new kitten Chester)!

A life-long United Methodist, Pastor Alicia earned a BA from Suffolk University in Government and has her M.Div. from Boston University where she graduated cum laude in 2018.

Immediately prior to her appointment as pastor at Bridgewater Center she was Family Ministries Coordinator for Shepherd of the Valley UMC in Hope, RI. In addition to being the pastor
at BUMC, she is active at Camp Aldersgate in Glocester, RI as the Pastor-in-Residence & theological supervisor, and currently serves  as co-chair of the Greater Bridgewater Interfaith Council.

Who we are, at a glance:

We welcome ALL people as a member congregation of the Reconciling Ministries Network. As United Methodists, we have an obligation to bear a faithful Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center of the Church’s life and witness. To fulfill
this obligation, we intentionally seek to remain true to our Wesleyan heritage of social justice and critical reflection of our theological and Biblical inheritance.
